Donald P. Barrie, 90, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at his home in Stevensville. He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Enumclaw, Washington

Don was raised in Enumclaw and graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1945. Soon after graduation he enlisted and served in the United States Navy. Upon completion of his Navy enlistment he entered the carpenters union apprenticeship program where he learned his trade. During his long career he built everything from houses to bridges.

On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Mitzie Orehek, of Black Diamond, Washington, his wife of 68 years.

Don was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. In his machine shop he spent many hours on projects and fabricating. He also enjoyed dancing.

Don was a proud member of the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters for 72 years and a member of the Five Valley Accordion Association in the Bitterroot Valley.

Don is survived by his wife, Mitzie of Stevensville; daughter, Carol of Stevensville; son, Jack of Washington.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Stevensville American Legion Fort Owen Post #94 on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
