Edwin Leroy “Sweetie” Brink, 95, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Graveside services and burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. Rev. Eric Carlson will officiate. There will be no visitation.

The family is being served by James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Edwin was born July 17, 1922, in Hannibal, to George Everet and Mabel Beatrice Barret Brink.

He was married to Darrolene Robertson on Sept. 12, 1947 in Hannibal. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1994.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Sue Brink Sanders (Darrell) of Hannibal; one aunt, Lillian Hoag; three grandchildren, Clinton Darrell Sanders (Jennifer), Jared Lee Sanders and Amanda Mary Sanders; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Cassidy Sanders and Macie Rose Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Brink; one sister, Virginia Robertson; and an infant sister, Virgie Brink.

Edwin was a graduate of Stowell School and Hannibal High School. He entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II.

Early in his professional career, Edwin worked at the shoe factory in Hannibal. He later along with his wife, Darrolene, was the owner and operator of “The Southside Market” and “Sweetie’s Hy-Klas Market” located on Market Street in Hannibal.

Away from work, “Sweetie” enjoyed being outdoors; hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. “Sweetie” also liked to care for his flower garden and roses or simply watch the birds and nature around him out on his farm. Reading western novels and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball were also activities that “Sweetie” took pleasure in.

Edwin was a Lutheran by faith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cardell McDonald and Earl Dean Shobe.
