"Francisco Almodova 1912-2002
Francisco Almodova of Bowie died July 13, 2002 in Bowie at the age of 89. Francisco was born in Mexico on Oct. 10, 1912 to Consulicion Almodova and Lorenza (Antunez) Almodova.
When Francisco was 17-years-old, he worked as a water boy for the railroad. His railroad job grew from that early age to a career that lasted from 1931 to 1976. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Way Maintenance Employees for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
On April 19, 1933 in San Simon, Francisco married Natividad Garcia and they had nine children.
Francisco is survived by his wife; and sons, Raymond (Cecelia) Almodova of El Paso, Texas, Francisco (Marta) Almodova of Tucson, Luis (SunTae) Almodova of Alexandria, Va., and Julian (Marion) Almodova of California City, Calif. He is also survived by his daughters, Bertha Almodova of Bowie, and Martha (Jim) Almodova Westberry of Mesa; a daughter-in-law Anna Almodoba of Willcox, along with 32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceasing him were his sons Henry Almodoba, Marcial Almodova and daughter Mary Jo Almodova Beale.
Rosary will be Friday, July 19, 7 p.m., at Westlawn Chapel in Willcox. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 20, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bowie. Burial will follow at Desert Rest Cemetery in Bowie. Contributions may be made to Charles Leighton Jr. Hospice, 319 W. Grant, Willcox, Ariz., 85643.
Services are under the direction of Westlawn Chapel & Mortuary in Willcox."
