Mr. Abbott died at 10:30 p. m. Sunday in Charleston Community Hospital where he had been a patient three weeks. He was a telegrapher and a station agent for the Nickel Plate Railroad and later served as secretary of Columbian Savings and Loan Assn. for 31 years. He retired in 1955.
Mr. Abbott was a member of the Rotary Club until two years ago and was a member of the Charleston Methodist Church.
He was born In Danville March 7, 1871, a son of Alexander and Elizabeth Abbott. He married Abigal Engstrom. She died in 1907. He later married Nelle Newman. She died in 1952. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Herschel Mahon, Boston and Mrs. Edward Paul Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Ida Coe, St. Louis, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, A son, George died in 1955.
