"Flemington--Claire M. Ballentine, 79, died on Friday (Oct. 3, 2003) at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
"She was born in Somerville and had lived in Pluckemin for 36 years before moving to Flemington in 1993. She was a graduate of Somerville High School.
"Mrs. Ballentine was an administrative assistant in the guidance department at William Annin School in Basking Ridge for 12 years, retiring in 1993. She had served in the same capacity at Bernards High School, Bernardsville, from 1975 to 1981, as well as in other Bernards Township schools.
"Mrs. Ballentine was a member of the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, was a former notary public and served as an assistant Girl Scout leader during the 1960s.
"She was predeceased by her husband, Percy G. Ballentine, in 1984.
"Mrs. Ballentine is survived by a daughter, Belinda M. Ballentine of Flemington; a son, Andrew J. and his wife Renee M. Ballentine of Califon; and two grandsons, Bradley B. Klippel and Christopher A. Ballentine.
"Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Pluckemin Cemetery."
