Mr. Carlos Gene Walker, 70, 518 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, January 10, 2007 following a short illness. A native of Carter County, TN he was the son of the late Chester (Chet) and Bessie Nidiffer Walker. He was retired as a millwright. Carlos was a hard working man. He loved ALL of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing and cooking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemarie Hill; three brothers, Lester, Bill and Floyd Walker; a sister, Lola Walker and a brother-in-law, Gary Lyons. Survivors include three sons, Pless Walker and his wife Donna, Greenville, Rick and his wife Beverly Walker, Elizabethton and Chris and his wife Tammy Walker, Bluff City; six daughters, Betty and her husband Danny Winters, Roan Mountain, Mary Lou Walker, Elizabethton, Tina and her husband Tom Hornsby, Ohio, Lola E. Walker, Johnson City, Glenda Walker, Johnson City, Carolyn and her husband Matt Dayton, Johnson City; three brothers, Johnny and his wife Trula Walker, Elizabethton, Lawrence Walker, Elizabethton, Jack and his wife Charlotte Walker, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret and her husband Lawrence Wright, Johnson City and Zelma and her husband Alfred Lyons, Johnson City and a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Walker, Elizabethton. Sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and special friends, Ethel Hardin, Allen Hamm, Katie Bowers, Wanda and Tommy McKeehan, V. Campbell and Bud Street also survive. Funeral service for Mr. Carlos Gene Walker will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 12, 2007 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. John Vance and Rev. Greg Whitehead officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2007 in Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Allen Paul, Steven Walker, Rangan Soliday, Jeffrey Graham, Gary Graham, Carlos Hill, Bill Highsmith and Roger Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hill, Danny Winters, Grant Colbaugh and Roy Nidiffer. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center – Halls 2500, 2600 and 2800, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Kyte, Anderson Kirk (A.K.) RN, Judy Barber RN and Rev. Ronnie Campbell.
