Kenneth G. "Kenny" Meyer, age 81, of 2168 Hawthorne Ave. Two Rivers, died peacefully at home early Saturday morning, Sept. 22, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

Kenny was born in Whitelaw on October 14, 1930, son of the late Anton and Mayme (Grall) Meyer. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Grade School and Valders High School, graduating with the class of 1948. He served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army, from 1953 to 1959, receiving the Purple Heart Award. On May 15, 1954, he married Ruthjoy Peterson at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death in 1977. Kenny then married Alice (Baroun) Oswald on Oct. 31, 1980 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. He worked in the home building business with his father for several years before starting a near 30 yr. law enforcement career with the Two Rivers Police Department in January, 1957. Over the years he attained the rank of Detective, and retired from the department on October 14, 1985 as Captain of Field Services.

In his younger days, Kenny was an avid baseball/softball player; he enjoyed bowling; and over the years also became an avid follower of horse racing. He was a great Wisconsin Sports Fan, who enjoyed the Brewers, Badgers, and the Green Bay Packers. Kenny also loved the outdoors, spending time fishing at his cottage in Little Sturgeon; hunting; woodworking; picking mushrooms; and had a passion for gardening. He especially cherished the time with his family, and enjoyed spending many winters in Florida during his retirement years. Ken was a member of the Andrew Miller Chapter #24 - D.A.V. Post of Manitowoc County, and also the V.F.W. Post #1248 of Two Rivers.

Survivors include his wife, Alice "Tuddy" Meyer; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Jim Donlon, Kari and Jeff "Bud" Pries, Kristi and Rick Peterson, all of Two Rivers, Amber and Craig Froelich of Manitowoc; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Jeff Oswald of Whitelaw, Terri and Scott DeBlaey of Cedar Grove; a special grandson, Nick Sheeter; and additional grandchildren who include: Michael Sheeter, Matthew Sheeter, Melissa (Jake) Ruck, Jessica (Nathan) Timm, Anthony Meyer, Whitney (Kenny) Razor, Bridgett (Kevin) Klein, Jacob Pries, Brayden Peterson, Bryce Peterson, Clara Froelich; Derek and Cody Oswald; and Alicia, Danielle, and Will DeBlaey; eight great grandchildren & one more expected in October. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Ralph Schneider, Sheboygan, Chuck (Betty) Peterson, Two Rivers, Marilyn Grover, Manitowoc, and Helen Baroun, Reedsville; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife, Ruthjoy, he was also preceded in death by his son, Craig Meyer in 1991; one sister, Maxine Schneider; one brother, Glenn Meyer; and brothers-in-law, Shelly Grover and Sonny Baroun.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd. Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass by members of the American Legion Post #165 and V.F.W. Post #1248 of Two Rivers.

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 - 18th St. Two Rivers, from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, led by Sr. Pat. Visitation will continue at the church Wednesday morning, after 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
