Death of John W. DeGroat, of Goshen,
of Fever - Mrs. DeGroat Died Saturday.

John W. DeGroat died at his home,
on Murray Avenue, Goshen, at four
o'clock, Wednesday afternoon. Mr.
DeGroat was taken ill about seven
weeks ago with typhold fever, and
this caused his death. His wife died
of the same fever last Saturday
morning.

Mr. DeGroat was a native of Ulster
county, where he was born 56
years ago. His parents Edward
A. DeGroat and Mary Van Wyck.
Deceased had been employed by the
Erie railroad for a great many years.
He was a breakman on the Pine
Island milk train and his last position
was a watchman on the milk platform,
at Jersey City.

Two daughters survive him; Mrs.
C. M. Davis, of Brooklyn, and Miss
Laura DeGroat at home; also one
brother, Charles E. DeGroat, who
resides at East Division, town of Goshen.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m.,
Friday, from St. James' Church.
Interment in State Hill Cemetery, Goshen.
