Founding member of the ska band No Doubt, along with Eric and Gwen Stefani.

Spence was the original lead vocalist for the band and coined their name after his favorite expression.

He committed suicide in a deserted parking lot in Anaheim, days before a concert at the Roxy Theatre for record industry employees. This caused the band to briefly break up before regrouping weeks later.
