William is buried I believe in his family plot with his Mother and Father. I don't think this photo is his burial site.

William was the son of John Wesler Anderson and Elizabeth Biddle/Riddle/or Smith. His IL death index transcription lists his mother as Elizabeth Riddle; her FAG memorial has it as Biddle; an obit for John says he married Elizabeth Smith. His father J. W. Anderson was a pioneer druggist in Dixon.

On May 28, 1884 he married Frances A. Tuttle, daughter of John S. Tuttle and Eliza Jane Perkins.

Their children were:

Melville (1885)
Ella (1889) Benjamin Shaw
Anna E. (1891)Franklin Allen & Alfred Anthony Wierks Zwierkowski
Myrtle (1895) Millard Orie Webster

Between 1895 and 1897 they were living in Chicago, Illinois. Then in October of 1897 there is a "snipit" in Dixon Evening Telegraph, 14 Oct 1897, Thu, Page 8 that Frances is visiting in Dixon from Chicago. In Nov. of 1897 Frances has William arrested for desertion and his bail is set at $300. They evidently go back to Chicago when he is released because on December 28, 1897 William is back in Dixon Visiting friends.

They file for divorce in April of 1898 and by May the divorce is final.

In the 1900 Census for Chicago, Illinois William is living there as single and he is a painter. Their children Melville and Myrtle were living in Dixon with their grandmother, Elizabeth Anderson. Ella was living in Dixon with grandparents John & Eliza Tuttle. They all lived on Fellows Street. Anna must have been with her mother but have not located them in the 1900 census.

In 1910 William lived in Dixon with his mother Elizabeth and his two daughters Ella and Myrtle on 7th Street. He was listed as Widowed and their son Melville is married. Anna was living in Geneva, MI with her mother who was widowed from 2nd husband William D. Cook; Anna married her 1st husband Franklin Chester Allen two weeks after that census.

In 1920 William was still in Dixon, listed as married (but no wife). That was probably a census mistake; there is no record of him remarrying. He had a housekeeper, Lona Locks.

William passed away at his daughter Anna E. Wierks home in Chicago, Illinois. Anna's 2nd husband's last name was Wierks on the 1940 census and his SS death index, but it was Zwierkowski on all other censuses, military records and military headstone in Milwaukee.

William was a Painter and on his death index listed as a Decorator.

He was survived by three daughters: Mrs Alfred Anthony (Anna) Zwierkowski and Mrs Millard O. (Myrtle) Webster, both of Chicago; and Mrs Benjamin Thomas (Ella) Shaw of Homosassa, FL; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs Charles E. Miller, of Dixon.

William was predeceased by son Melville S. Anderson on Jan 27, 1927 in Fox, IL.

His body was shipped back from Chicago for his funeral at the Church of God, West Morgan Street, North Dixon. Rev. Frank E. Siple of Oregon, IL was in charge of the services, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery.
