Walter E. Whitlatch Jr., age 73, of Wynne, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City. He was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Obion, Tenn., to Walter and Loraine Whitlatch. He had lived in Forrest City most of his life. He was retired from Arkla Gas, a veteran of World War II, and attended the Fitzgerald Baptist Church. He married Shirley Eslinger in 1942, and she preceded him in death in 1994. He married Ann Jordan in 1995, and she survives him along with a son, Tim Whitlatch of Milwaukee, Wis.; four daughters, Linda Larmore of Florida, Pat Whitlatch of Palestine, Vicki Long of Judsonia, Jill Shiplett of Searcy; his mother, Loraine Whitlatch of Mississippi; a brother, Charles Whitlatch of North Carolina; four sisters, Oleida Stewart and Juanita Martin, both of Mississippi, Dorothy Hale of Camden, Jo Lofton of Texas; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Judy Chapman and Kathy Nerns. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery.
