Carol Lorraine (Zwach) Kesteloot was born in Gales Township, rural Milroy, Minnesota, to Joseph and Barbara (Hammerschmidt) Zwach on Christmas, December 25, 1921. She was baptized and received first communion at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. She attended school in Milroy and graduated with the Class of 1940 from the Milroy High School.

Carol was united in marriage on September 11, 1945 to Victor Kesteloot at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. Along with being a fulltime mother, Carol worked along side her husband on the farm. Carol was a faithful member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and served as the President of the Council of Catholic Women, a member of the choir, attended Bible Studies and as a Regent of the Catholic Daughters.
