April 19, 1944 – February 10, 2018

David Morris Bowker passed away on February 10, 2018, in Bend, Oregon, after a brief illness. He was 73 years old.

David was born April 19, 1944, at Ft. McPhearson, Atlanta, Georgia, to Morris Crawford Bowker and Jane Gilbreath Bowker, both of Roseburg. David graduated in 1962 from Roseburg High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in business and technology from Oregon State University in 1967, and his master’s degree in computer science from UC Berkeley.

In 1976, David established a computer software company, Data Associates, Inc., in Corvallis, Oregon, with his business partner of 42 years. David enjoyed his work and was devoted to family. He was an “all around good guy,” honest and careful with his words and in life. He had a gentle sarcastic humorous way about him. He would often say, “It’s all good.”

He met his wife, Karon, at OSU, and they were married in 1965. He enjoyed world travel; his favorite trip was to Egypt, and vacationing in Maui, the Oregon coast, and Park City. He spent time reading, hiking, camping, and playing his original vinyl records. In later years he divided his time between Corvallis and Central Oregon.

While growing up, David had great memories of working with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on their ranches in Glide along the Umpqua River. He felt that this was the best way to live life.

David will be sorely missed by his surviving family members: wife, Karon; son, Todd and wife Bethany of Salt Lake City; son, John of Central Oregon; and daughter, Kimberly of Central Oregon. He loved his six grandchildren, Adam, Kayden, Josie, Lexis, Landon, and Jainii; many cousins in the Glide area; niece, Kristen; and nephew, Tim. David was survived by sister Marjorie Meeks and husband Gary, of Tigard, although she passed away shortly after David.

David’s life was honored at a private family gathering at Wes and Zeta’s. His cremated remains will be interred at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens, with some being taken to Maui and the ranch in Glide.
