Peggy Hemmes, 79, of Covington, Texas passed away July 11, 2016 at her residence. She was born November 23, 1936 in Leroy, Texas the daughter of Mose and Ida Cleo (Skains) Thrasher.
A graduate of Axtell High School, Peggy also attended business college in her early twenties while living in Dallas. On December 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Billy G. Box and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. She later married Alfred Hemmes on December 14, 1998 in Houston. During her working career she was employed at Miller Insurance Agency and Interfirst Bank in Fort Worth.
Peggy enjoyed watching birds, traveling, sewing and doing crafts. Her children and entire family were her life. She was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church in Cleburne.
Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Hemmes, four children, four step-children, brother, Melvin, two sisters, Vivian and Celia, 19 grand children; 16 great-grand children and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held July 15, 2016 in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery in Waxahachie, Texas...M_M
