Faye Snidow Adams, 92, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Lawrence Wallace Adams. Born in Lynchburg on June 13, 1925, Faye was the daughter of the late John L. and Alma B. Snidow.

Faye was a gifted pianist and organist. At an early age, she demonstrated a love of music and aptitude for the piano. At the age of 9, she began piano lessons with Nancy Maddox and later studied privately with Professor Emil Berger of Lynchburg College, who was influential in her introduction to the classical repertoire. Faye was adept in both classical and traditional popular genres, and talented in improvisation. In addition to solo performances, she accompanied singers, ensembles, youth choirs, and often substituted as church organist. For many years, she and Lawrence led the music for the Sunday school class at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church. More recently, Faye was the featured pianist for the monthly birthday celebrations of the Summit Independent Living community. Listeners can recall the cheerful vibrancy and truefeeling of Faye’s unique sound.

Faye is survived by her two daughters, Martha Jane Adams Alvis and son-in-law, Mason L. Alvis of Nashville, Tennessee, and Norma Rae Adams of Arlington, Virginia; her grandson, Adam M. Alvis and his wife, Amy of Birmingham, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Madeline and Parrish Alvis. Faye is also survived by her two loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Debbie Snidow and Ray and Rose Snidow of Lynchburg and their families.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2018, at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service conducted by the Reverend Janet Hawkins will follow at 11 a.m. in Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a reception at Charley’s Restaurant, 707 Graves Mill Rd., (434) 237-5988.

Finally, the family would like to express appreciation for the special caregivers at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the Summit Benevolent Fund.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory, 427 Graves Mill Rd., (434) 239-2405, is assisting the family. Memories and thoughts may be shared with the family at www.heritagefuneralandcremation.com.
