Myrtle Faye Matthews, 60, of the 6600 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., went to be with the Lord Feb. 9, 2007, from Sentara Bayside Hospital, Virginia Beach. Miss Matthews was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Asa A. and Myrtle Irene Ward Matthews. A homemaker, she was a faithful member of Ocean Park Baptist Church and loved its works and its members. She will be sadly missed by her beloved brother, John L. Matthews of Norfolk and her sister, LoQueen "Beth" Swanner of Virginia Beach. A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Ward family cemetery on Swing Gate Road, Hertford, N.C., by the Rev. Marvin Bagent. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, N.C., is assisting the family with arrangements. The family extends a heartfelt thank you for all the prayers and words of encouragement which have been a blessing in this time of grief.
