Gerald Piontek Sr., 62, of 12627 Melnik Rd., Whitelaw, Wis. died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc, after a brief illness with lung cancer.

Gerald was born April 11, 1940 in Green Bay to Sylvester and Mary Ciesielczyk Piontek. He married the former Suzanne M. Otto, July 18, 1959 in Green Bay. He was employed for 20 years at Krueger Metal of Green Bay, and for Eck Industries of Manitowoc for many years. He enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, cutting wood, his cottage up north, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Andy Holschbach, of Glen Beulah; Katrina and Bruce Steinhauer, of Two Rivers; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry Piontek Jr., of Two Rivers; Richard Piontek and his special friend Jessica Hansen, both of Mishicot; his twin sons, Daniel and Tracy Piontek, of Two Rivers and David Piontek, of Two Rivers and his special friend Joyce Jessogne of Kaukauna; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, and Kristin Holschbach; Cody Piontek; Brice and Kyle Steinhauer; Blake Piontek; and by two very special little girls, Heather and Jennifer. He is further survived by his father, Sylvester Piontek, of Green Bay; and by one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Andrea Piontek, of McMillan, Mich.; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and John Wieber, of Lake Mills, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Marqueritte Otto, of Green Bay; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Piontek; and his father-in-law, Arthur Otto.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lambert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St. in Mishicot. There will be a 7 p.m. Parish Wake Service, Tuesday evening at the funeral home, led by Father Ron. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at the church, with the Rev. Ron Colombo officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
