DONALD C. HOEFNER
(1934 - 1999)

Donald C. Hoefner, 64, Maribel went to his eternal rest Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

The son of the late Norbert and Viola (Reicherdt) Hoefner was born on Sept. 22, 1934 in Newtonburg. He served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. On May 18, 1957, he married the former Jewel Fenlon at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Donald was a truck driver for many years and owned and operated Hoefner's Grocery Store from 1970 to 1979. After retirement he volunteered for the Red Cross, the Denmark Senior Center and enjoyed dancing and bowling. He was also a member of St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown, where he served as an usher for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lori Osterloh, Maribel; Petrine and Myron Treml, Luxemburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Barbara Hoefner, Denmark; six grandchildren, Scott and Leslie Osterloch, Chas and Kortney Treml, Erik and Beth Hoefner; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Diane Urban, Two Rivers; Delores and Alfred "Fritz" Boeder, Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Carol Hoefner, Milwaukee; Jewel's family, Janice and Benny Landt, Two Rivers; Gale and JoAnn Fenlon, Francis Creek and nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Marie Fenlon; sister-in-law, Mildred Fenlon and aunts and uncles.

Family and friends may call at Knutson/Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County R., Denmark, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Wake service Tuesday at the funeral home 6 p.m; Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church; Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown, with Rev. Ronald Colombo officiating; Burial in the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Visiting Nurses Association (V.N.A.) and Hospice, especially, Tracy, Linda, Ann, Pam, Corinne and all the rest who helped take care of Donald. A special think you to Ron and Bea Novak for all of their support. Thank you to all family and friends for all of their prayers. A memorial fund has been established for the cancer fund in Donald's name.
