Death Notice

LAMB SANDRA LOVRE LAMB ''''Sandy'''' Sandra Lovre Lamb "Sandy", age 72, passed away quietly on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at her home in Rockville, MD. She battled lung cancer and illness with the hallmark intensity with which she lived her life, and gracefully surrendered to the disease with peace and acceptance. Sandy was born in South Dakota in 1937. The Lovre family moved to the Washington area in 1948 when her father was elected to the U. S. House of Representatives. Sandy attended the University of Michigan, and later returned to Washington where she modeled and dedicated much of her time to teaching protocol for the Congressional wives and daughters. Sandy married country music singer, Dick Flood, and had four sons, Dan, Dave, Don and Dale, who are all the objects of her affection to this day. The family moved to Nashville where they lived for ten years. In 1969, Sandy and her sons returned to Maryland. In the same year, she began to work for her father, Harold O. Lovre. In 1972, Sandy began her career in banking. In 1979, she married Gordon B. Lamb, who has been her soul mate for 33 years. With this union, she gained a son, Greg, and the daughter she always wanted, Jennifer. In 1983, Sandy changed her focus completely and founded S Corp, a woman-owned small temporary staffing company in Rockville, MD. Today, S Corp is 26 years old and continues with the tradition of caring with SPIRIT! The staff of S Corp has always worked as a team, and Sandy made the company successful with the able assistance of Brenda Acton, Shirley Griffin, and Ruth Tanker. Sandy has never been hesitant to bring the word of the Lord to the front of the room. She has always given the Lord all the credit for the success of her company, and with that spirit alive, S Corp will continue to be a success. Over 17 years ago, Sandy and her husband Gordon, founded a leadership training camp, which supports Lutheran teens in their aspirations to build their faith and become leaders in the Lutheran Church. The visionary and sacrificial commitment of Sandy and Gordon has been an inspiration to over 500 young Lutheran leaders. Many lives have been touched by God''s light because of the work the Lambs have done. Sandy was most grateful for the support from her many cherished friends, her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, her Pastor, Rev. Dave Sonnenberg, and her Stephen Minister, Brenda Kessler. She expressed her heartfelt thanks for her doctor, Dr. Rosalyn Juergens and her nurse, Jane Diaz, of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD, for their wonderful care during her illness. Sandy was also most appreciative of the wonderful help that she received from Montgomery Hospice. She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon Lamb, six children: Danny Flood of Gettysburg, PA, Dave Flood of Boyds, MD, Don Flood of Odem, GA, Dale Flood of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Boudrye of Derwood, MD, and Greg Lamb of Washington Crossing, PA, and 10 grandchildren. In addition, she leaves her precious sisters: Carmen Ryan, Linda Taylor and Janice Hall, as well as many dear friends. Sandy drew the most meaning in life from family, S Corp, music, the celebration of Christmas, love, laughter, and her God. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, 100 N. Charles St., Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201. Please make note that the donation is in memory of Sandy Lamb for the research of Dr. Ros Juergens. "In my window, a little light will always keep burning; all may come in. The arms of a friend are waiting." ~ Pope John XXIII"In my window, a little light will always keep burning; all may come in. The arms of a friend are waiting." ~ Pope John XXIII
