Dr. David Glenn Hall
January 25, 1954 – April 1, 2018
Dr. David Glenn Hall, DVM, 64, of Emeline Place in Morehead City, passed away suddenly on Easter Sunday at his home.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory at 2112 Arendell St., Morehead City. Dr. Hall's ashes will be interred with his parents in a private observance at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City.

Dr. Hall was the son of Braxton Bragg Hall Sr., a former jet engine mechanic at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC, and Edith Cavel Davis Hall, a registered nurse at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, who predeceased him.

David graduated from West Carteret High School in Morehead City in 1972 and attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington before graduating from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. On June 9, 1981 he was conferred the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama. He honed his craft by practicing veterinary medicine with Needham Animal Hospitals in Wilmington and Raleigh before returning home to open Mitchell Village Animal Hospital in 1989, with his friend and partner, Dr. Roxanne Taylor.

Dr. David was known as a caring, compassionate and kind professional who really loved the animals he treated. He served as president of the North Carolina Academy of Small Animal Medicine and was a passionate supporter of pet rescue programs across North Carolina. His many admirers, both human and non, are unanimous in their praise for Dr. David's gentlemanly demeanor, his quick wit and his uncompromising integrity and professionalism. His family knew him to be unpretentious, benevolent, loyal and always willing to help.

Dr. Hall was active in the community he loved and was a member of the Morehead City Rotary Club from 1988 until his passing. He served as president of the evening Rotary in 1996-1997 and was the club treasurer for over fifteen years. He was a founding member of the Emergency Pet Hospital of Craven- Carteret in Havelock, NC and served as treasurer of that practice for many years. Dr. Hall was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morehead City, and donated much money and time to a plethora of charitable causes, often anonymously. David was an Eagle Scout, loved the beach and was an avid boating enthusiast and a passionate thespian, having attended over 300 shows on Broadway in New York City.

Dr. Hall is survived by his brother, Braxton Bragg Hall Jr., of Cape Hatteras, NC, and by his loving cousins Doug and Diane Willis, and Danny and Sally Boyd, of Morehead City, and Robert and Martha O'Brien of Sherrill's Ford, NC. He was especially devoted to Reid O'Brien of Charlotte, NC and to Pete Weber and Roger Shriffler of Raleigh. The late Bobby Howard of Morehead City was David's best friend for many years. Dottie Grisham, of Emeline Place in Morehead City was David's "second mother" and he loved her for over 50 years. Dr. Hall's staff at Mitchell Village Animal Hospital was among his great joys, and he was incalculably appreciative for the many years of service of Rachelle Tommasone, RVT, and Ann Cowan. He loved his furry clients and their less furry owners as much as they loved him.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory at 2112 Arendell St., Morehead City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pet Adoption and Welfare Society of Carteret (PAWS), 5042 Mattie St., Morehead City, NC 28557 or to the Morehead City Rotary Club, 900 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
