Edwin S. Marston of 375 Park Ave, who resigned last summer the Presidency of the Farmers loan and Trust Co., that he had held for 24 years, died suddenly yesterday of heart disease at his country residence in forham Park, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, before his marriage, Emma Doty, and a son, Russell Marston, and a daughter, Mrs. Marston Burke. The funeral services will be private.
The father of Edwin Marston was William Walker Marston, inventor of a repeating rifle and owner of an armory in this city that was sacked and burned by the draft roiters in 1863. The son was born here 71 years ago, and received his eduation in our public schools and at City College. In all he spent 38 years in the service of the Farmers loan and Trust Co., advancing from the office of Assisstant Secretary until he succeeded, Rosevelt G. Roiston as head of the institution.
During the panic of 1907, as one of the members of the Trust Co. committee of Five he took and active part in the relief of measures then put into effect.
Among the many important corporation's at whose boards Mr. Marston had held a place were Fidelity & Casualty co., Lackawanna Stell, now New York Railways. Greenwich Savings Bank, New York and Queens Electric Light and Power, American foreign Securities. At the time of his death he was Vice President of the New Jersey Zinc Company.
His Clubs included the Metropolitian, Manhattan, India House ( One Hanover Sq. and Bayard's Restaurant) and Morris County Club Golf.
