She was born Feb. 28, 1948, to Austin and Georgia Shifflett in Fairfield, California, and graduated from Armijo High School in 1966. She married George Eastburn Parkhurst III in 1971 and they celebrated their 43rd anniversary before his passing in 2014.
Working in optical sales all her life, she retired from Kaiser Permanente after being a fixture there for more than 20 years.
Her two passions were Scouting and American Girl dolls. Serving as a Girl Scout leader for almost 40 years in both San Jose and Fairfield, she directed many amazing meetings, day camps and tea parties. She volunteered as Cub Scout den mother for both her son and grandson, and then created two American Girl doll clubs, where she would teach history through the dolls and books.
She leaves behind her mother, Georgia Shifflett; daughter, Stacy Rose (husband James); son, Eric Parkhurst; grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Rose; sister, Martha Runnels (husband Larry); brother-in-law, John Parkhurst (wife Tammy); nephew, John Parkhurst; and nieces, Jennifer Roberts, Jessica Runnels, Georgina Bottcher and Elizabeth Stevens.
Pam was an inspiration to generations of girls and boys, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Assembly of God Church, 2207 Union Ave., Fairfield. There will be a private burial at the Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.
