H. Gene Buchmann, age 67, of Kiel, died unexpectedly at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, on Monday morning, April 9, 2018 after suffering a heart attack. Gene died peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born December 16, 1950 son of the late Harvey and Laura (Knowles) Buchmann in Sheboygan. Gene attended Kiel High School graduating with the class of 1969. Gene furthered his education in Auto Body and Auto Body Management in Milwaukee.

On August 15, 1970 he was united in marriage to Janice Conrad at St. Peter UCC, Kiel. He was an instrumental part of starting the auto body shop at Vogel's Chevrolet. He dedicated himself to his work for 47 years until his retirement in January of 2017. Gene's dedication to the auto body shop gained him many longtime customers that evolved into lifelong friendships. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, serving as a past council member. Gene had a love for cars and enjoyed going for rides. He was a fan of NASCAR, which included trips to Daytona with Janice. Gene also loved to travel especially his time at Disney. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His true pride and joy was his family, especially the time he could spend with his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife of 47years; Janice, two daughters: Tracy (Jeff) Sabel, Valders and Amy (Richard) Klunck, Sheboygan; five grandchildren: Maddie Sabel, Brayden Sabel, Quintin Klunck (Fiance Shanna Gordon), Abigail Klunck (Matt) and Mason Klunck; two great grandchildren: Brantley and Olivia; his siblings: Yvonne (Al) Gagne, Philip Sr. Buchmann, Charles (Nancy) Buchmann, Duane (Linda) Buchmann, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Larry (Mary) Conrad, Lee (Rita) Conrad, Jenny Lynn (Glenn) Hansmann. Gene is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Laura, stepfather: Clarence Jaschob, sister-in-law: Vickie Buchmann, brother-in-law: Sheffey Massey, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lyle & Jeannette Conrad.

Funeral Service for Gene will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday April 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, (387 Cemetery Road), Kiel. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Laabs, with burial to follow in the Kiel City Cemetery

The family will greet relatives and friends at Church on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:00AM until 12:45PM when brief family rites will be held.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name for Trinity Lutheran Church.
