Clara Haugrud, 85, Bismarck, died August 24, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services wiil be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Public visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Boelter Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
She was born on November 30, 1914, at Kathryn, the daughter of Engebret and Oline (Eggen) Roe. Clara was raised and educated in Kathryn, where she graduated from high school in 1932. She graduated from New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo in 1933 and moved to Enderlin, working for different beauty shops before owning and operating the C&H Beauty Shop.
Clara married Kenneth J. Haugrud on June 6, 1942 in Seattle. The Haugruds moved to Bismarck in 1946. In the spring of 1949, they moved to the house they built and where they have since resided.
Clara was active in church activities. She loved her home and devoted he life to caring for her family.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and H. J. Vanderlinden, Red Wing, MN, and Marcia and Ardell Wiegandt, Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Sigrid Birklid, Ella Peterson, and Ida Johnson, and one brother, Ingvald.
