Son of Thomas & Isabel Ackerley (nee Jenkins). In 1901 Thomas lived at 31 Thomas Street, Altrincham. His father was a Bricklayer's Labourer. By 1911 they lived at 19 Ouse Street, Pendleton, Salford and his father was a General Labourer. He lived with a younger sister, an adopted son and a Boarder.


Thomas married Milly Jessie Nunn on the 26th June 1916 at St. Andrew's P.C. Eccles and lived at 27 Paradise Street, Eccles - now called Talbot Street. His fathers occupation was now given as soldier. Her father was John Nunn who helped to build the Manchester Ship Canal.
