Donald Lee Conner, Sr., RADM, USN, age 75 and a resident of Long Beach, died on Monday, October 29, 2007 in Gulfport.
Admiral Conner was a native of Lima, NY. He was a 1955 graduate of the Naval Academy and served as a line officer for two years before transferring to the Civil Engineer Corp and attending RPI in Troy, NY. He had five commands and retired as a 2 Star Rear Admiral with the United States Navy to Annapolis, MD.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cassius & Mae Rich Conner and a brother, William Frank Conner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia Conner of Long Beach; his children, Donald L. Conner, Jr., of Westminster, MD, Anne C. (Keith) Davis of Long Beach, and Jeffrey S. (Joyce) Conner of Black Diamond, WA; his brother, David A. (Toby) Conner of New City, NY; his grandchildren, Jay (Mandy Fennell) Levens, Andrew Levens, Jenny Levens, Erin Conner, Bob Conner, Emmaleigh Conner, and Caleb Conner; his great grandchild, Ava Jaye Levens; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Conner of Dallas, TX; his nephews, David Conner of Connecticut and Timothy Conner of Dallas, TX and his nieces, Christine Thorn of Connecticut and Kelly Sue Owens of Keller, TX.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 4:00pm at the new chapel of THE RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19128 Commission Road in Long Beach, with full military honors. Friends may visit thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, MD at a later date.
