married to Chester Leslie with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
Predeceased by her brothers Bernard, Robert, Edmond, Alfred and Arnold and her sisters Gertrude and Hazel
Agnes lived a long life devoted to family, faith and music. Agnes grew up in Regina, attending Sacred Heart Academy and commercial college. She met Chester Leslie when he was stationed in Regina during WWII and they were married on March 2, 1946. They lived in Hamilton, Burnaby, Surrey and Fort Fraser, before finally settling in Prince George in 1961. Trained as a stenographer, Agnes returned to work after her children were in school and worked for the Government of BC in the Motor Carrier Branch. Agnes was also a committed member of her community, including a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League and a long-time volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul. In 2009, Agnes co-wrote and published a book of memoirs of members of the PG Elders Citizen Recreation Association, awarded the Jeanne Clarke Local History award in 2009. Yet throughout her life, Agnes' singular passion was for performance, often in her younger years to sing at weddings and consistently a member of church and community choirs. In later years, she enjoyed performing with the Rainbow Singers. She got much gratification from her participation in the ECRA group, with which she continued to be involved into her late 80's. Well into her golden years Agnes refused to grow old, teaching herself how to use a computer to connect with family and friends and search online for the next script for her acting group. Doing the daily crossword with the help of a family member continued to give her pleasure until her last days. On the morning before her death, she participated in a trivia event.
