HOUSTON - David Ray Brassfield, 55, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was born on September 3, 1962 in Vardaman to Rex Brassfield and Bertha Clemons Brassfield. He had worked with his father, Rex Brassfield, as a logger before becoming disabled.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 at Southern Funeral Chapel with Brother Cody Childress officiating. Burial will follow in Amity Cemetery in Sparta. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, April 17 from 5:00 until 8:00.
He leaves behind his wife, Connie Brassfield of Bruce; his children, Dewayne (Tonja) Brassfield of Houston, Paige Brassfield (Bobby) of Houlka, and Casey (Jacob) Petty of Houston; a brother Stevie Brassfield of Houston; his sisters, Virginia Gregory of Pontotoc, Wanda (Scott) Atkinson of Woodland, Jo Cross of Houlka, and Katherin (Tom) Hughes of Woodland; his sister-in-laws, Betty Brassfield of Houlka and Geraldine Brassfield of Fulton; his grandchildren, Jaylen Brassfield, Alyiah Moore, Aniyah Moore, Skyler Brassfield, Kailey Stevens, Patrick Stevens and Joseph Stevens.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Rex and Bertha Brassfiled; his brothers, Gary Brassfield, Ricky Brassfield, John Brassfield, and Lucky Brassfield; his sisters, Janice Brassfield and Carylon Gann.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jamey Rowlett, Adam Rowlett, Brandon Hughes, Jonathon Hughes, Dewayne Brassfield, and Calvin Gregory. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Stevens, Joseph Stevens, Jacob Petty and Bobby Moore.
