(We corrected the year of birth on this site from "1867" to "1868". The grave marker photo clearly shows DOB as 1868, while the faded Death Certificate indicates 1867.)

John Douglas was the fourth born and the second son in a farming family in Parker County, Tx. The available records begin with the 1870 Census, showing John, at age 2, as the youngest of four children.

In 1880, he is one of 6 children, 4 sons and 2 daughters, living with his parents, still in Parker County.

He and Miss LueEllen Childers marry 13 May 1894, in Parker County.

They start their family and, on the 1900 Census, have three children, and own their home and farm. Family lives on nearby farms. By 1910, the family has grown to 7 children, ages 0-15 and is still farming in Parker County. Four Brisco families live nearby.

In 1920, all 8 children, ages 5 to 25, are listed on the Census, and the family has relocated to Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas. They are renting their home and, are, once again, farming.

Four years after the Census, John died at age 56, leaving a legacy of hard work and a fine and growing family. This family, from the eight children, had grown to 31 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren in 1968.
