Her father, Joseph Distin, was not a prisoner on the farm. He was conscripted into the navy, in England, and housed at the farm where her Mother's family, Olive Parker, lived. Joseph and Olive fell in love and he deserted and hid in the woods. The story goes he was captured by the Revolutionary soldiers and imprisoned. If he had been caught by the British he would of been shot for desertion. When he was released Olive and he married
