Jane J. Oliver was a cartoonist best known for her 'Tales of Jerry' commix. It features a vampire named Jerry who gets into all sorts of trouble. She drew all ten editions of Tales of Jerry. Jane also edited several mini comic series like: Dance of Death, Pagan Comix and Vampire Vignettes, all of whom were published by Geerdes.

She attended Art Spiegelman's underground cartooning class at the San Francisco Art Academy and became involved with the Newave network in 1976 while studying art at Sonoma State University.

In an interview with Small Press Comics Explosion #6 she stated in an interview that she was infulenced by Bob Gibson, Art Spiegelman, Larry Todd, Dan O'Neill, Carravaggio, Durer, Goya, Delacroix, Gericault, Daumier, The Beatles, Jim Morrison, Bram Stoker, Anne Rice and Dark Shadows. She liked publishing her own work because it was all about pleasing herself and doing a better job every time she did so.

At the time of her death she was married to her second husband Phil Hirsch and had a son from her first marriage, Justin Jenkins Oliver.
