Obit from the American Citizen Jackson Michigan 30 Apr 1862: Rosevelt Davis Esq died a few days since in Blackman. Came here over 30 years ago.

Extract from a letter written to the editor 14 May 1862: Mr Rosevelt Davis was born in State of Vermont; early removal to NY State where he resided until 1831, then came to Jackson locating in Blackman 5 miles north of city. His was the family location on the plank road in what is knownn as the Morrill neighborhood. He lived on the same farm 31 years. He was a Free Will Baptist, attending the Baptist Church in Jackson. Died 28 Apr 1862. His funeral procession was said to be the longest ever witnessed here. Sermon from Judges 3:20 "I have a message from God unto thee". Rev J E Johnson.

Probate shows he was a native of New York with an estate of $30,000 at his death.
