He is predeceased by his parents Mary Bowes (Wilson) and Anson Bowes, by his brothers Gordon and John and daughter-in-law Debbie Johnson. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Stemp, Joyce North and sister-in-law Diane Bowes.
He was a hard-working dairy farmer who loved the land and Tayview Farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed his time and the company at Kelford's Hunt Camp, where he was a member for over 60 years. Art was active in municipal politics in Bathurst Township, were he served as a Councillor, Deputy Reeve and Reeve. He went on to serve as the Warden of Lanark County (1981). He was a member of the GWM Perth Hospital Board and served as Chair. A strong man of faith, for many years he was a active member of St Paul's United Church and Art and Helen were inaugural members of Couples' Club.
