Wanda Sue Ritchey Payne, 77, of Weed, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018 in her home after a long bout with cancer. Wanda was born on July 23, 1940 in Dierks, Arkansas to Howard and Vada Ritchey. Her family moved to Weed when Wanda was just 2 years old.

She married Jesse Wayne Payne in 1960 and they raised four children. Wanda loved being a housewife and mother. She was a member of the DAR and the Genealogical Society of Siskiyou County. Her other passions were genealogy research, sewing, gardening, reading, baking, and gambling with friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Grafe; brother, Harold Ritchey; and sister, Margarete Ralls.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Payne; 3 children; sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Hubert; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Winema Cemetery in Weed on Saturday, February 17 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at the Lake Shastina Community Center, 15244 Driftwood Lane in Lake Shastina.
