Daley Sr., James P. "Jim" Age 87. Passed away peacefully May 28, 2014 of a long standing illness. Survived by the love of his life for 60 years, Mary Kathryn "Dot" (nee Mahoney); loving father of Mary K. (Cosmo) Briatta, James P. Jr. (Denise), John J. (Terri), Daniel P. (Ann), Catherine A. (Chris) Torie, Colleen P. (David) Jahn, Patricia A. (Paul) Glenchur; dear grandfather of 19; great-grandfather of 2; fond brother of John M. (the late Veronica) Daley; kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Jim was a Navy veteran, having served in WWII. Jim's commitment to servicing community was only surpassed by his love of family. He had a passion for anything "green," including putting the greens! He had a sweet tooth that was eagerly shared with his many grandchildren. He could frequently be found walking along the shores of Long Beach, IN, and Naples, FL, with members of his family or one of the family dogs. Jim's generosity always extended to others. He developed a vacant lot into an inviting community gathering place frequented by many of the neighborhood children. He provided great levity to his neighborhood friends while enjoying a sweet dessert on his front porch in St. Thomas More Parish. Visitation Friday 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 10:45 a.m. from the Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th Street, Chicago Ridge, IL, to St. Alexander Church, Mass 11:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in the name of James P. Daley to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
