She was born on June 9, 1933 in Calumet County, daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Maertz) Kalies Sr. Doris was a graduate of Brillion High School, Class of 1951. On January 19, 1952 she married Donald Olp in Brillion. Doris was employed at Foley Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1995. She was an avid recipe collector who loved cooking for parties and weekly Sunday family meals. Doris enjoyed dancing and crocheting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also took her six kids every Sunday to see their Dad play softball.
Survivors include her husband: Donald Olp, Manitowoc; her children and their spouses: Brenda Kulas, Gail & Jack Keil, Holly & Terry Gaugher, all of Manitowoc, Russell & Linda Olp, Two Rivers, Amy & Gary Zander, Peshtigo, Sheryl & Gregg Birkholz, Watertown; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven siblings and their spouses: Ralph Kalies, Omro, Elroy & Marlene Kalies, Freemont, Betty & Peter Zarnoth, Brillion, Virginia & Alfred Ziemer, Reedsville, Shirley & Eugene Jandrey, Reedsville, Nancy & Norman Raatz, Appleton, Carl Jr. & Beverly Kalies, Pine River; a sister-in-law: Janet Kalikes, Brillion, and a brother-in-law: Alan See, Kimberly. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Lloyd Kalies; a sister: Bonnie See; a sister-in-law: Elaine Kalies, two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leroy & Dolores Olp, Elaine & Crawford Fallier; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herman & Lydia Olp.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Stephen Melso with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, at a later date.
