ANTAL - John F., 69, Johnstown, passed away at home, surrounded by loving family, on April 26, 2018. Born July 25, 1948 in Johnstown, son of Jacob G. and Wilma (Kristoff) Antal. Preceded in death by parents; and brother James Antal. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Regina "Ginny" (Rocha) Antal of Johnstown; daughters, Ellen Coleman, Mechanicsburg; Theresa married to Bridget L. Antal, Dillsburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Drew, Samantha, Gino and Julianna. A brother of Nancy Jardina, Jacob Antal Jr., Raymond Antal, Judy Burkey, Thomas Antal, David Antal, Susan Antal and Michael Antal. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. John was a retired Army veteran with HHC 1st Battalion 103rd Armor, Infantry Division PA National Guard, with 34 years of dedicated service. He received numerous awards and citations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal. Upon graduating high school he entered Bethlehem Steel's Mechanical Department. Was a member of the Lower Cambria Local 2644 and financial secretary for Gautier Local 2632. He was one of the last few who closed up the plant after 26 years of employment. John went on to the Johnstown Housing Authority as an Assistant Project Manager and a Nahro certified inspector. He retired after 16 years of service there. He was a seasonal employee for H.R. Block as a senior tax advisor level five for 20 years. He loved going to the beach with his family, big Steelers fan, and liked NASCAR races. He will be missed by his best friend "Cody". A former member of the Slovak Band Hall, V.F.W., and the Cambria City Community Group. The family would like to thank Harmony House and AseraCare Hospice for their wonderful care. A member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Bernard Karmonocky, OFM. Committal will take place at Benshoff Hill Cemetery, where the Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corp. League Honor Guard will perform honors. Friends received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Condolences may be sent to fgozogfuneralhome.com
