First wife of Joseph Alexander. This first wife, Sarah, was called "Sally", and she died in 1850. Her inscription is on the right side of the face of the monument along with Eliza J. Alexander, who I think was a their daughter. The town was called Marysville, Oregon then, when the first Sarah was buried, but changed later to Corvallis (Heart of the Valley) to avoid confusion with Marysville, California. Later he and his second wife, also named Sarah, donated the land for the cemetery.
When the tombstone gives the death date and then aged so many months, days & years, I'm always a little reluctant to figure it, as I'm afraid I'll make a mistake. But I think I have this one right. It said 30 years 3 months 12 days.
