James Emmett Hamm, 87, of Pekin, made his transition on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Aperion Care Toluca. He was born on Nov. 26, 1930, in Pruden, Tenn., to Jesse and Gladys (Pruden) Hamm.
While serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, he married Han Samrae on May 11, 1953, at the American Consulate in Pusan, South Korea.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Neita (David) Sudberry of Flint, Mich., Gordon (Debbie) Hamm of Jericho, Vt., and Ramona (Alan) Gatewood of Concordia, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many others who loved him.
A memorial gathering will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at Fast Dragon, 321 Court St., Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.org) or Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org). The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co.
