Lycurgus "Curg" Ruple was born in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, the son of Emanuel Ruple and Asenath Evans Ruple. He moved to Faulkner County, Arkansas, about 1874. In 1877 he married Queenie Isabella Bass, the daughter of Jesse Boswell and Frances Rhodes Bass.

Curg and Queenie were the parents of 15 children, including 3 sets of twins:

2. Walter Lycurgus "Bud" (1879-1922) md Alma Bell Price
3. Jennie Asenath (1881-1958) md Ellis Gore
