Manitowoc - Wendell G. Knapp, 87, of Manitowoc, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018, at Aurora Baycare, Green Bay.

Wendell was born on August 31, 1930 in Bristol, son of the late Glenn and Laura (Szymczyk) Knapp. He attended schools in the Reedsville area graduating with the class of 1948 from Reedsville High School. Wendell served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953 with the rank of Sergeant. On August 1, 1953, he married the former Harriet J. Krueger. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2017. Wendell worked at Invincible until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

Wendell is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Randy (Nancy) Knapp, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn (Henry) Jensen, Manitowoc; Linda (Tim) Matthias, Whitelaw; nine grandchildren: Jessica Vogel; Kim Hernet; Scott Rozmarynowski; Craig Rozmarynowski; Kyle Jensen; Kari Jensen; Nic Jensen; Brad Matthias; Bryan Matthias; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Violet (Raphael) Rusch, Two Rivers; Lucy Jandrey, Kaukauna, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Laura Knapp; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clarence and Myrtle (Erickson) Krueger; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Alta (Edgar) Lannbrecht; Winifred (Milton) Buss; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Wilfred (Barbara) Krueger; Audrey (Lawrence) Jandrey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1501 Marshall Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com
