Melvin Brink, 94, of Hudsonville, entered into the joy of his Savior on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Brink; children, Mary Ann and Mark Ohlman, Barbara and Phil Cutrara; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rachael and Jeff Arico, Robert and Julie Buchanan (son, Robbie), Jacqueline and Scott Kamps (children, Timmy, Gracie, Jonny, Joshy, Aidan), Brian Buchanan and Claire Victory (daughter Elisabeth); sisters-in-law, Florence Haveman, Jean Holstege, Martha Holstege. He will also be missed by the children of Phil Cutrara and many others whose lives were touched by his.

Melvin was born to the late Andrew and Mary Brink on July 24, 1923. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Brink, Gerald Brink, Clarence Brink; sisters, Henrietta Brower, Jeanette Hamming; and great-grandchild, Amber.

By God’s mercy and grace, Mel lived a humble, forgiving, servant-hearted life. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. He sang the praises of His Lord as long as his health allowed and will be remembered as a caring, playful, prayerful man. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, and the very best of grandpas! Those who knew him well were privileged to call him their own and are thankful for his testimony of Jesus’ love.

A funeral celebrating Melvin’s life and home-going will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 3520 Kiel St., Hudsonville, MI 49426, with Revs. Bob Huisman and Scott Kamps officiating. Interment Georgetown Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at VanderLaan Funeral Home, 4917 32nd Ave. Hudsonville, MI 49426, on Sunday from 2 to 4 P.M. and on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. at Immanuel CRC.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hudsonville Christian School or Faith Hospice. The family is grateful to the staff at Faith Hospice for their loving care as Melvin transitioned to heaven.
