The passing of Thurston Randall "Randy" Gallagher of Taymouth, NB, husband of Mavis (Merrill) Gallagher occurred on January 1, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 8, 1935 in Taymouth, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest Gallagher and Alma (Stewart) Loftstrom. He was a member of the Canadian Air Force serving from 1955-1967; he served two years in France. For 48 years Thurston was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #80 obtaining a Life Time Membership. He was Past President and Current Treasurer of the Legion also served for 35 years at Capital District holding positions of deputy district commander, district commander and sitting on several other committees. He was past Master and current Senior Warden of Landmark #51 Lodge in Boiestown; Most Wise Sovereign of the Scottish Rite Rose Croix Valley of Fredericton and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. In addition to his wife, Mavis of 31 years, Thurston is survived by his sister, June (Gordon) Tapley of Woodstock, NB; brother, Hazen Gallagher of Florida, USA; step-daughters, Ola (Richard) Wright of Woodstock, NB, Judy MacKinnon of Fredericton, NB and Bev (Oras) Gullison of Woodstock, NB; step-son, Everett Gullison of Taymouth, NB; step grandchildren, Misty (Greg) Kelly, Stephen (Janet) Wright, Jennifer (Trevor) MacKinnon, Lisa (Jeremy) Wright, Regena (Mark) Player and Justin (Angie) Gullison; four step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Thurston was predeceased by his sister, Joyce. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 4 to 9 pm. There will be a Mason Memorial Service Monday at 6:30. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to assemble for a Legion Tribute Service at the funeral home on Monday at 7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 11 am with Pastor Gordon Mowry officiating and Pastor Michael Trail assisting. Pallbearers will be Justin Gullison, Stephen Wright, Mark Player, Trevor Tingley, Gene and Bruce Mersereau; Honourary Pallbearers are Fred Ryan, Larry Belyea, Ora Ross, Bill Smith, Darrell Munn and Joe Rideout. Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #80, Nashwaak Bridge.
