Alvina Suess Law, 97, of Kensington, widow of George S. Law, passed away Monday August 29, 2016 at Ledgecrest Health Center. Born in Hartford, she lived in Kensington since 1957 and was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1936. Alvina worked at the Hartford Office of the United Church of Christ as Registrar and Secretary of the Treasurer of the Connecticut Conference. She was a longtime and active member of the Kensington Congregational Church, where she served as a member of the Women's Service League, as a Deaconess, as the Head of the Tuesday Women's Circle, and as Sunday School Teacher. She was Vice President of the Kensington Garden Club, was a Board Member of the New Britain YMCA-- she also volunteered for the Women's Club of New Britain, the Peck Memorial Library and the New Britain Unit of the American Cancer Society.

Surviving her is her daughter, Gretchen Law and her husband Somerpet "Ruju" Ruju of Guilford; and a granddaughter, Anna Christina Imperiale of Miami, FL. Besides her husband George, she was predeceased by a son, Geoffrey S. Law, PhD.

A memorial service will be held Saturday 11 AM at Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Avenue, Kensington. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Geoffrey S. Law Traveling Scholarship Fund, c/o Bates College, 56 Campus Avenue, Lewiston, Maine 04240. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting with arrangements.
