Douglas Abner, 68 of Mesquite, Texas formerly of Ky. passed away April 22, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. Doug was born in Onieda, Ky. on Oct. 9, 1950, the son of the late Johnnie and Barbara Burns Abner.
He is survived by one son, Greg Abner of Hopkinsville, Ky.; siblings, Leo Abner, Jerry Abner, Roger Abner all of Columbia, Ky., Bobby Ray Abner, Paul Kelly Abner, Woodrow Abner, Christine Abner, and Brea Henson Abner; his companion, Carol Simpson of Mesquite, Texas.
Doug worked in the harness racing business for many years at tracks in Kentucky and Illinois and worked at Whirlpool in Texas.
Cremation has taken place in Texas with the burial of cremains to take place in Abner Family Cemetery, Onieda, Clay County, Ky.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home assisted the family.
