Calvin L. "Fritz" Amspacher

Shrewsbury - Calvin L. "Fritz" Amspacher, Age 82, died Friday May 4, 2018 at the Pappus House in York, PA. He was the husband of Marcia E. (Itzoe) Amspacher. The couple celebrated a 56th wedding anniversary this past November 23rd.

Funeral services will be 12 noon on Wednesday, May 9, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA; with Father Carl Tancredi officiating. Burial with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Shrewsbury, PA. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. The family requests that you dress casual.

Fritz was born on July 26, 1935 in Philadelphia and was a son of Ethel (Amspacher) Garner. He was raised by his grandmother, Mabel Amspacher. (""Editors Note"" Calvin's mother Ethel Amspacher is listed in the York newspaper at a Wheat Threshing on Aug 23, 1938 and she is also listed in the York Newspaper May 19. 1942 after going to court and was given child support for two children from Emory DeHoff. The 1940 Cenus list Emory S. DeHoff and Ethel M. DeHoff and two children, Calvin L. and Nancy R. DeHoff. Emory and Ethel were not married. And also Emory Sylvester DeHoff, Born Sept. 1, 1913, his U.S. WWII Draft Card list his next of kin as Ethel Miriam DeHoff.)

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired in 1995 from Keystone Distribution where he was a fork lift operator in the warehouse. Prior to that he worked for Harry T. Campbell and Son in Hunt Valley, MD; and York Stone and Supply, York, PA.

He was a member of the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403. Glen Rock, PA; the New Freedom VFW Post #7012 and was a life member of the United Birthday Club, New Freedom, PA. He was a racing enthusiast and NASCAR fan, enjoyed gardening and puzzle books. He also enjoyed the times with the Bench Crew at Smith Bros.

Besides his wife, he leaves, four children, Calvin "Lee" Amspacher Jr. (Denise) of Felton, PA; Janice M. "Jan" Echevarria (Marcos) of Red Lion,PA; Tonya M. Matthews (Jeffrey) of Felton, PA; and Dawn R. Amspacher of York, PA; 11 grandchildren, Kristen Amspacher, Briana Frost, Cecilie Amspacher, Krystina Adams, Hollie Jo Matthews, Zaenna Echevarria, Zachary Echevarria, Sarah Dell, Grayce Amspacher, Isabella Dell, Cody Amspacher; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Frost, Alex Frost, Allie Jo Duke; two sisters, Nancy R. (Amspacher) Grove of Shrewsbury, PA; and Viola Abel of Meyersdale, PA. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Fuhrman.
