Suspect Sought In Fatal Mishap Here
Ted Kauahquo, Hobart, was killed and two persons injured in a traffic accident near the west edge of Carnegie early Sunday morning.
Kauahquo, who was reported to be hitchhiking, was a passenger in a car driven by Dennis Cannon, Carnegie. Cannon and another passenger, Anita Anquoe, both received injuries and reportedly were brought to the Carnegie hospital by Paul Satepauhoodle, driver of the second car involved in the accident.
Filmore Edgemon, investigating patrolman, said Cannon was returning from helping Satepauhoodle, Carnegie, fix a flat on Satepauhoodles car. Cannon told officers Satepauhoodle had bumped the rear of his car several times. Apparently one of the bumps knocked Cannon's car out of control, Edgmon said. The car travelled 150 feet on the shoulder before striking a telephone pole, demolishing the car.
Kauahquo was brought to the local hospital by Pitcher ambulance and he and the woman were transferred to the Lawton PHS Indian hospital. Kauahquo was then sent to an Oklahoma City hospital where he died about 4:30 Sunday afternoon, Cannon was treated for a head injury at the local hospital and released.
Satepauhoodle disappeared after the accident and officers still had not found him late Wednesday, Undersheriff T.L. Stuart said.
Funeral services for Kauahquo (Henry Boatpaule) were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Luke's Indian Mission, Hobart and burial was in the Elk Creek Indian cemetery south of Hobart.
He was born at Hobart in February, 1908. Surviving him are two brothers and two sisters, all of Hobart.
