"EARL BEHRINGER, FORMER BOSQUE COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR, DIES DEC. 12

Earl R. Behringer, 68, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday
morning, December 12, in the Clifton hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, December 13, at
3:00 p.m. in the Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Creech
and Minister Clayton Young officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove
Cemetery at Walnut Springs under the direction of Brister-Lawson Funeral
Home. Meridian Masonic Lodge No. 268 AF & AM was in charge of graveside
rites.
Mr. Behringer was born April 17, 1911, in Hill County, Texas.
He was a son of the late Clifford and Virgie (Dennis) Behringer. On
March 7, 1937 he was united in marriage to the former Gussie Damron at
Marlin, Texas. After his marriage, he and his wife lived in Meridian
for a number of years before they moved to Walnut Springs and later to
Iredell. In 1957, Mr. Behringer moved back to Meridian after being
elected as Bosque County, Tax Assessors & Collector, a job that he held
for 20 years before retiring in 1977.
Mr. Behringer was a member of the Meridian First Baptist Church
and the Meridian Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gussie Behringer of Meridian;
one son, Kenneth Behringer of Mansfield; one daughters, Mrs. Jim
(Earlene) Wigington of Hamilton; one brother, Claude Behringer of
Arlington; and one sister, Mrs. Estelle Scallan of Fort Worth; five
grandsons and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Kit Behringer, Reece Damron, James Behringer,
Travis Greenwade, Ken Klose, and Drew Behringer. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were Joe Davis, Newt Lane and Leo Vick."
