William Wesley Keefer was a druggist, a pharmacist, and a physician. He was the son of George and Susan Falkwell Keefer and the eldest of thirteen children. At some point, William became a Quaker. On May 3, 1852, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and he may have served as a doctor in the American Civil War.

On May 26, 1852, he married Jennie Stinson. In 1866, his brother George Keefer married Jennie's sister Margaret Stinson.

Jane and William Keefer had three children:

1) Mary Keefer (1854-1917): She married Samuel Louis White (1875) and had seven children. She left her estate to her two daughters, Jennie and Gladys. Her residences included 5341 Wingohocking Terrace, Philadelphia, Thorps Lane Germantown, and 2115 Chew Avenue Philadelphia.

2) William Baird Keefer (1856-1927): He started his career as a bookkeeper. Later he got into the carpet business and then the rubber business. He married Alida Coxe, and they had four sons; John, William, Robert, and George. They lived in several locations around Philadelphia.

3) Rebecca B. Keefer (September 12, 1859-1947): She may have gone by Dorothy; it is unclear from the historical records. She married Edwin Samuel Cramp of the Cramp & Sons Ship & Engine Building Company. Rebecca and Edwin Cramp had two children; Florence Baird, who married Theodore Roosevelt Pell, and Dorothy, who married Reuben James Ross. She had residences on Spruce Street in Philadelphia and on East Gist Street in New York.

William Cramp & Sons Shipbuilding Company (also known as William Cramp & Sons Ship & Engine Building Company) of Philadelphia was founded in 1830 by William Cramp. It was the preeminent U.S. iron shipbuilder of the late 19th century.

Jane owned several properties, such as 1516 and 1518 Wellington Street, Philadelphia. Her sister Rachel and her husband, Thomas Shriver, owned 1502, 1504, 1506, 1508, 1510, and 1512 Wellington Street. Jane's sister Matilda and her husband, George Homer, owned 1514 Wellington Street. In addition to Wellington Street, Jane owned 1608 N.15th Street and 1521 Oxford Street.

The Keefer family plot, Section C in Laurel Hill Cemetry, is the final resting place of Jane "Jennie" Stinson, her husband, and her parents. Matthew and Anna Wright Baird are in Section K of Laurel Hill overlooking the Schuylkill River. William Wesley Keefer was the executor of the estates of his wife's uncle's estate, Matthew Baird (1817-1877), and his wife's father, Robert Stinson. Ironically, he died without a will, and the total value of his estate was only $700. Earlier census data indicate that he had had substantial wealth, just not at the end.
