Ex-Policeman, Seized in Crime, Dies on Street

Edwin J. Cusack, a former Chicago policeman who turned to crime, yesterday came to the end of his trail. He died of a heart attack while trying to outrun policemen who trapped him a burglary.

Policemen Martin Patrick and Lee Gericke saw Cusack, 59, and a partner carrying liquor and cigarets to their automobile from Clark's liquor store and delicatessen, Sauk Trail rd. and Willow av., Richton Park.

The accomplice, carrying an undetermined amount of stolen money, escaped. Cusack, collared by the policemen, begged: "Give me a break, I'm an ex-cop," then collapsed.

Cusack ended a six year police career in 1934 when he was convicted of hijacking.
